About me

Coaching and cultures
Hi, my name is Sander van der Eijk. Self-employed as personal coach and trainer, and part-time employed as a consultant. I have always been interested in how people differ and distinguish themselves; both in work and private life. In my work as a coach, I increasingly sensed the reach of cultural differences. And, not in the least, the impact these differences have on my work as a coach. The interesting challenge is to integrate differences at work, without loss of one self. I am very keen to find out how cultural differences influence self-actualization in work life. This is the sort of knowledge and experience multi-national and -cultural companies need in order to be successful. And, from my perspective, this is the sort of framing my coachees need to be themselves in their work environment.

A year off
Starting from September 2011 up and into August 2012, me and my partner Maartje enjoy a well-spent sabbatical year. We aim to travel throughout parts of Argentina, Chili, New-Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, China, Japan and several European countries. Given the opportunity I'd like to experience and survey cultural differences in terms of self-actualization at work.

Just so to be clear, I’d like to do all this without transforming my personal travels into a business trip. I am happy to say this year personal interest comes first. Nevertheless this topic mixes the pleasure of discovery with just the right hint of business. So let’s just see how far we can take things.

Sharing ideas
On return I’d like to put new knowledge into practise. And, ofcourse, share knowledge and ideas with you whereas possible. Which is something I also intend to do while in the phase of discovery. Therefore, I am happy to invite you to read my blog. Feel free to reply, add or discuss!
